MUSICAL FORM

Musical form is the overall structure, or shape, of the piece. Knowing the form provides a good overview
of the composition. Try to identify the form of the piece as well as the form of the individual sections.
More advanced students will find it helpful to map out the overall key scheme of the piece. Musical form
is usually identified using letters of the alphabet, however, some people prefer using color and/or shapes
to identify different sections.
